This Mechanical Design project was assigned to me during an internship in the Summer of 2015. A tool was needed to replace an existing method of retrieving an instrument from a processing machine cabinet. The tool was designed for an area with severe space limitations and strict tool material regulations. Ergonomics, safety, simplicity, and overall appeal were the main considerations during the creation.
This project was still in progress at the end of my internship. The design was reaching its final iterations and plans for manufacturing were beginning. Shown below are illustrations of the most recent prototype.
- Spring-loaded securing mechanism
- Versatile 80/20 frame
- Horizontally adjustable lever
- Anti-rotational mounting forks
